Standard Orchid was founded by Robert Culver in 2022, starting as a small online venture to make space in his greenhouse. In 2024, Robert, alongside Ben Johnson—both passionate orchid growers—expanded the brand into a commercial laboratory specializing in orchid propagation through seed germination and tissue culture.

Over the years, Robert and Ben have had the privilege of learning from remarkable individuals who have shared their expertise in orchid propagation. With Robert’s love of chemistry and their combined backgrounds in technology, they recognized the importance of systems and tools in building a successful lab business. This led to the official launch of Standard Orchid as a lab service in 2024.
